SCIENTOLOGISTS’ POSITION ON THE DRUG CRISIS:
The stated goal of the Scientology religion is to enable people to achieve greater awareness and true spiritual freedom.
Drugs, once falsely and maliciously touted as a method of “expanding one’s consciousness,” in fact reduce awareness and cause long lasting mental and spiritual devastation.
Thus, Scientologists consider drugs to be the single most destructive element present in our current culture and a primary barrier to achieving true spiritual freedom.
The use of street drugs has proliferated out of control; LSD, heroin, cocaine, angel dust, marijuana and others permeate all levels of society.
Drugs are an insidious plague, one not limited to illegal street drugs, but one that reaches to all levels of society through an ever-widening and pervasive acceptance and use of drugs. Many medications, sleeping pills, painkillers or mood-altering antidepressants can be even more destructive and contribute to a drugged society.
Drugs are a false and destructive solution, and one that, unless halted, will set society on an irreversible downward spiral.
