Churches of Scientology
Their Anti-drug Campaigns and Activities

SCIENTOLOGISTS’ POSITION ON THE DRUG CRISIS:

  • The stated goal of the Scientology religion is to enable people to achieve greater awareness and true spiritual freedom.

  • Drugs, once falsely and maliciously touted as a method of “expanding one’s consciousness,” in fact reduce awareness and cause long lasting mental and spiritual devastation.

  • Thus, Scientologists consider drugs to be the single most destructive element present in our current culture and a primary barrier to achieving true spiritual freedom.

  • The use of street drugs has proliferated out of control; LSD, heroin, cocaine, angel dust, marijuana and others permeate all levels of society.

  • Drugs are an insidious plague, one not limited to illegal street drugs, but one that reaches to all levels of society through an ever-widening and pervasive acceptance and use of drugs. Many medications, sleeping pills, painkillers or mood-altering antidepressants can be even more destructive and contribute to a drugged society.

  • Drugs are a false and destructive solution, and one that, unless halted, will set society on an irreversible downward spiral.
