Around the World

As drug abuse knows no international boundaries, Scientologists are active in anti-drug campaigns in many nations.

In Canada, for example, Scientologists founded the national “Say No to Drugs, Say Yes to Life” campaign, which serves as a key force in turning youth away from drugs before they start.

The campaign has gained the support and participation of entertainment and sports figures because of their appeal to youth – such as the Toronto Maple Leafs hockey team, the Toronto Blue Jays baseball team, the Toronto Argonauts and the Saskatchewan Roughriders football teams, all of whom have signed the “Say No to Drugs, Say Yes to Life” Honor Roll and serve as examples for Canada’s young.

Canadian city officials have also lent their support to the campaign. In eleven cities in the province of Ontario, mayors have proclaimed March 13 – L. Ron Hubbard’s birthday – “Say No to Drugs, Say Yes to Life” Day in their cities, commemorating the Church’s campaign. The mayor of Brampton, Ontario specifically commended the Church for “helping educate communities toward an understanding that to achieve their goals, they must be drug-free.”
