COMMUNITY OUTREACH
AND ASSISTANCE PROGRAMS

As elsewhere, concerts, rallies and broad-scale distribution of anti-drug literature effectively mobilized thousands of German citizens who pledged to lead drug-free lives.

In Switzerland, where anti-drug events have regularly been held in Lucerne, Basel, Bern, Lausanne and other cities, Scientologists, with other local organizations, have participated in the closing of an infamous park to drug addicts and pushers. Support for the Church’s anti-drug activities has come from both federal and state members of Parliament.

French Scientologists have organized marches, concerts and street events to promote the Church’s anti-drug message, and have reached hundreds of thousands of Parisians. Champion motorcyclist Marc Arrighi, who broke the world rear-wheel-stand speed record in 1996, is among those who have actively promoted the “Say No to Drugs” campaign.

In Spain, where drug trafficking has earned the nation the title “drug crossroads of Europe,” local Scientologists formed a “Freedom Without Drugs” association and conducted a series of anti-drug events in Madrid.
