Scientologists held the grand opening for the Mission of Gorky situated near the internationally famous Gorky Park in south central Moscow. Mission Director, Alexander Durov was joined by the Assistant Director of the Institute of Education & Technology of Moscow, Mr. A.C. Lazarev, who spoke of his wish for more Scientology missions to open in the region because they truly helped people.
Mr. Lazarev then presented the Mission Director with a letter officially expressing his "warmest gratitude to L. Ron Hubbard who gave hope back to mankind." He further went on to say that the opening of the Gorky Mission signaled an increase of happy and successful people in the region who will then, in turn, bring happiness to others.
After the speeches and ribbon cutting, public toured the mission and were treated to an introductory lecture on Scientology fundamentals.
