12 Sep 2006 — The Continental Scientology Volunteer Ministers Cavalcade in the California State Capital

At the end of the day when the Scientology Volunteer Ministers Continental Cavalcade drove in to Sacramento, California, the only question was — who had more fun? The Volunteer Ministers or the people they helped?

A yellow truck bearing the motto "Something CAN be done about it" brought a huge yellow tent to Sacramento this summer — one of the stops on the Western United States Continental Scientology Volunteer Ministers Cavalcade.

Setting up the tent next to the Capital, local Volunteer Ministers joined members of the continental team to bring help to the people of the city.

The spent all day introducing people to the techniques contained in the Scientology Handbook by L. Ron Hubbard.

And here's how their visitors described the experience:

• It was a pleasant professional approach.

• When I left, I felt good!

• I liked the relaxing feeling and the energy that the volunteers brought to the tent.

• It was great! I wish I could do this all day!

What did they like best?

• How helpful everyone was and how nice and easy it was to talk to everyone.

• This allowed me to talk about what made me stressed out.

• I liked the honesty.

• The helpful insight.

• The welcome.

• The people were friendly.

• I liked the fact that I was made so comfortable here.

• They were very patient and friendly and welcoming to me.

But that's only one half of the story. What about the volunteers themselves? What did they like best?

• Helping people

• Communicating with people and getting them real help.

• Helping others — helping them feel better.

• It was nice to help.

• This was FUN!

In his essay titled "Religious Influence in Society," L. Ron Hubbard described the program in these terms: "If one does not like the crime, cruelty, injustice and violence of this society, he can do something about it. He can become a VOLUNTEER MINISTER and help civilize it, bring it conscience and kindness and love and freedom from travail by instilling into it trust, decency, honesty and tolerance."
