6 Nov 2006 — Peace and Understanding in the Middle East

More and more, the people of the Middle East are realizing that the peace they long for is something they personally can do something about.

It has to do with a little booklet, and 21 simple precepts for a better life.

Written by L. Ron Hubbard, this non-religious moral code called The Way to Happiness, helps people realize that the things they hold in common are far more important that those which divide them.

The Association for Peace and Understanding in the Middle East (APUME) is a group of volunteers from America, Palestine and Israel who are working to bring about a peaceful resolution of the decades-long Palestinian/Israeli conflict. With branch offices in Los Angeles, Florida, Tel Aviv and the Palestinian West Bank they have distributed over 2.5 million copies of The Way To Happiness in Hebrew and Arabic throughout Israel and in the Occupied Territories.

Here is what the chief editor of an Israeli newspaper said about the booklet, which he distributed to his readership as a special feature: "In my quest for happiness, tranquility and joy, I encountered a little booklet called The Way To Happiness. It touched me and changed my thinking. I would like to let you, my readers, participate in my experience and so I am honored to give you this booklet as a little present....Read it and pass it to your friends and loved ones. I hope it will make some of you smile, feel better, and I wish your life will change for the better."
