8 Nov 2006 — Dianetics Workshop in Poland Provides Effective Help to Refugees

One thing that has struck the Scientology Volunteer Ministers, working in the refugee camps in Poland, is the strength and courage of the people they meet there — courage in the face of ordeals suffered en route to the camps.

The Dianetics Workshop gave the refugees the tools they need to help each other come to grips with what they have suffered.

That is the back story of how the Scientology Volunteer Ministers Central European Goodwill Tour decided to hold a Dianetics Workshop — to give the refugees the tools they need to help each other come to grips with what they have suffered so that it no longer colors their view of life or acts as a barrier to their future success.

Unlike other approaches that are temporary, ineffective, or downright harmful, Dianetics gets to the root of emotional and spiritual trauma and helps a person rid himself or herself from ever having to suffer from the effects of it again.

The word Dianetics comes from the Greek dia, meaning "through" and nous, meaning "soul", and is defined as "what the soul is doing to the body."

The Dianetics Workshop is based on the book Dianetics the Modern Science of Mental Health. Written in 1950 it is every bit as pertinent and effective today as it was over 50 years ago. If anything, with stories of how stress is more and more prevalent in our lives, it has more application now than ever before.

The Volunteer Ministers Goodwill tour paired up the participants. The whole point of the Dianetics Workshop is that people learn to help one another — they study the most basic principles of Dianetics and then DO it, under the supervision of someone trained in the subject. This is called, "cooperative auditing" or "co-auditing" for short.

With members of the Goodwill Tour on hand, supervising the sessions, the new Dianetics co-auditors did a great job.

"I feel excellent!" said one of the participants. Totally new to the subject he admitted, "sometimes I was not sure," but he found the way the workshop was run, where there was always someone to help if needed, worked very well. He was so happy that the man he helped had new realizations about what was holding him back. "With this process," he went on to say. "I can be effective and help people. This auditing was super. And I DID IT!"

Another person attending the workshop was thrilled that although this was the first time she had ever tried to use Dianetics technology she now knows she "can really help people." She was worried at first because the person she helped had "all these strange situations he was afraid of," but by using Dianetics procedures she said "you help him through."
