Held at the Sun Yat-Sen Memorial Hall Art Gallery, the Ministry of Education of Taiwan presented their 2006 "Awards for Social Education Contribution" to those groups and individuals who demonstrated exceptional service to the community.
The Church of Scientology of Taiwan was among those groups singled out to be acknowledged. In the past year alone, Scientologists delivered over 200 drug-prevention and human rights education lectures to schools, jails and community groups around the nation, reaching more than 300,000 people.
The award, presented to the Executive Director of the Church by the Deputy Minister of Education included a plaque of commendation from the Ministry of Interior signed by the Minister of Education, a beautiful crystal trophy, and inclusion in a memorial publication that will be distributed to all the libraries in the country.
The Scientologists of Taiwan have clearly taken to heart what L. Ron Hubbard, founder of the Scientology religion, once wrote: "A being is only as valuable as he can serve others."
