In fact, the Scientology Volunteer Ministers were commended by the Chief of the Provincial Fire Brigade for their assistance.
Continental Volunteer Minister Cavalcades, such as the one in Rome this week, visit new cities each month where they introduce residents to technology developed for the program by L. Ron Hubbard, founder of the Scientology religion.
In developing the Volunteer Ministers program, Mr. Hubbard wrote, "If one is going to find fault with something, it implies that he wishes to do something about it and would if he could. If one does not like the crime, cruelty, injustice and violence of this society, he can do something about it. He can become a Volunteer Minister and help civilize it, bring it conscience and kindness and love and freedom from travail by instilling into it trust, decency, honesty and tolerance."
