It was a cold winter day, like most in the city of Chelyabinsk, 1500 km ( 932 miles) South East of Moscow near the border of Kazakhstan. But spirits were high on this special day as it signaled the arrival of the Church of Scientology Mission of Smolino, the third Scientology mission in this city of a million residents, the administrative center of the Chelyabinsk region of Russia.

Scientologist Evgenie Degtyaryov addressed the crowd with contagious enthusiasm and explained why he decided to bring this mission to his city.
Scientology missions provide a meeting place for the Scientology community and care for people's needs. They reach out into their communities to bring new people into contact with Scientology and encourage their spiritual advancement through the higher levels of the religion. The Staff of the Scientology Mission of Smolino are eager to provide basic Dianetics and Scientology training, counseling, workshops and seminars and community outreach programs to help the people of their city.
