17 Jul 2007 — Atlanta Scientologists — Creating an Ideal Scientology Organization in the Heart of the Deep South

Plans are well underway to create a new ideal Scientology Organization in Atlanta, Georgia, and local Scientologists are proud of their city and determined to help it live up to its potential.

Atlanta, a city of nearly half a million, with a greater metropolitan population of more than 5.4 million, is one of the fastest growing cities in the United States. Home to many major corporations, including CNN and Coca-Cola, it is a major commercial and transportation hub of the Southeast United States, and its international airport is one of the busiest in the world.

As the birthplace and home of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. it is the city that inspired the civil rights movement. Referred to by some as the "greenest" city in the United States, Atlanta is known for its beautiful parks and botanical gardens.

But Atlanta is not without its problems. In fact, it is a city plagued by crime and drugs.

In 2006 it was ranked as the 14th most dangerous city in the United States, and with nearly half of the adult males arrested in 2002 testing positive for cocaine, drugs are a major factor in this problem.

Scientologists are determined to create an ideal Scientology
Organization in Atlanta, not only to make Scientology training and counseling services available to Scientologists throughout the Deep South, but to provide greatly expanded facilities for community outreach programs such as drug education and volunteer ministers activities to help their great city cope with the challenges it faces and improve the quality of life for all Atlantans.
