4 Feb 2009 — Church of Scientology of Pasadena Dedicates "Day of Service" to Support Fire Department's Emergency Response Training Program

In response to President Barack Obama's "Day of Service" challenge for Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, members from the Church of Scientology of Pasadena met on January 20th at Station 31 to present the Pasadena Fire Department with a check for almost $1200 to help fund the Pasadena Emergency Response Training program. (P.E.R.T.)

Pasadena Scientologists present a check to Pasadena Fire Operations Captain Danny Serno. The money will help fund the Pasadena Emergency Response Training program. (P.E.R.T.)

The Scientology Volunteer Ministers, the Church's Boys Scout troop from Sunland/Tujunga and the Women's Auxiliary of the Church of Scientology of Pasadena raised the money for this cause by cooking up an "all you can eat pancake and egg breakfast."

Ms. Eden Stein, President of the Church of Scientology of Pasadena, remarked that "Scientology founder L. Ron Hubbard once said, 'A being is only as valuable as he can serve others.' It's all about helping people. We are happy and proud to help the Fire Department. They are our heroes."

Pasadena Scientology Volunteer Ministers who recently graduated from the P.E.R.T. program presented the check to Pasadena Fire Operations Captain Danny Serno who responded with thanks and the observation that "This money means a lot to us, especially in this crucial time."
