oday, more than ever, Scientology is in the news. Stories about the Church and its members appear daily around the world in newspapers, magazines, radio and television, and the volume continues to increase. It is no surprise.
The fastest-growing religion in the world today, Scientology is the only major religion to emerge in the 20th century. The Church of Scientology, founded by parishioners in 1954, has in less than 50 years grown to span the globe with more than 3,000 churches, missions, related organizations and groups which minister the religion to more than 8 million people in over 133 countries.
With Scientology’s rapid emergence into the mainstream of the world’s changing religious community, many have asked what it is and why it continues to generate such interest.
We could respond in many informative ways, and have done so in other publications. But the truest expressions of the value of the Scientology religion are found in the personal experiences of the millions of Scientologists who apply its practical technology and discover for themselves that it markedly improves their lives. Scientologists are found in virtually every walk of life, for L. Ron Hubbard’s discoveries know no economic, ethnic, racial or political barriers.
